Sustainability

It’s not just a consideration, it’s a commitment built into every part of our process.

We take pride in designing and producing furniture that is not only built to last
but built responsibly, with people and the planet in mind.

Materials, Durability & Warranty

We prioritise responsibly sourced materials in everything we create.

Each piece of furniture is designed with longevity in mind built to withstand daily use and last for years. When it eventually reaches the end of its life, every component from timber and steel to upholstery fabrics, foam, and fixings is designed to be easily disassembled and recycled.

To extend product life even further, we offer replacement parts, making repairs simple and reducing the need for disposal.

We stand by the quality of our craftsmanship with a 10-year warranty and are actively developing take-back schemes for both furniture and packaging all part of our commitment to circular design and long-term sustainability.

Environment

We’re committed to creating furniture that supports healthy, toxin-free interiors. That means carefully selecting materials and finishes that are low in VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds) and meet recognised indoor air quality standards.

  • Adhesives: We use zero-formaldehyde adhesives that exceed the requirements of the E1 Emissions Standard achieving significantly lower emission levels.

  • Lacquers: All our finishes are water-based lacquers, specifically developed for low VOC emissions, helping to maintain healthier indoor environments.

  • Foams: Where possible, we use recycled foam and offer options that comply with CDPH v1.2 and ANSI/BIFMA standards for safer, more sustainable upholstery.

We believe that good design should enhance well-being, never compromise it.

Certifications

We focus on sourcing high-quality, responsibly certified raw materials from trusted suppliers, including:

  • FSC® and PEFC-certified timber

These independent certifications ensure the materials we use meet rigorous environmental and health standards across their entire lifecycle.

If you’d like to review certification documents from our suppliers, we’d be more than happy to share them, just get in touch.

Sourcing & Supply Chains

All of our products are designed and prototyped in our studio in York, UK.
Each bespoke piece is made to order in our own workshop, giving us complete control over quality, detail, and craftsmanship.

Some of our components are batch produced, and for that we work closely with a small, trusted network of specialist suppliers throughout the UK and Europe who share our values of sustainability, precision, and integrity.

Wherever possible, we keep production close to the source of the raw materials. By transporting finished components instead of bulky raw materials, we reduce unnecessary mileage and help minimise our overall carbon footprint of the products.

Sustainable Packaging

We take pride in our packaging, designing it carefully to protect each product while keeping waste to a minimum. We use recyclable and where possible, recycled materials, including cardboard and paper-based padding.

We actively minimise plastic use, and when it’s necessary, we opt for recyclable film wraps. It’s all part of our commitment to thoughtful, sustainable design from start to finish.

Looking Forward

Sustainability is a journey… As we grow, we remain committed to transparency, continuous improvement, and working with partners and clients who share our values. Whether it’s through material innovation, certification compliance, or responsible design - Honest will always aim to be part of the solution.
